A Tibetan Nomad in America
After a long wait for paperwork and journey from the Plateau, Norlha Basketball team captain, Jampa, made it to Seattle! Here he will get to spend time with his wife and newborn daughter, explore life in the US, and hopefully find a basketball game or two. (Update: he has! Jampa made it to his first NBA game. As a young nomad on the Tibetan Plateau, Jampa would sit and watch the older men and monks play basketball in the village. Years later he first saw pictures of the NBA in a magazine. In January of 2018 he got to see the Portland Trailblazers take on the Dallas Mavericks live! Jampa spent the entire 1st quarter of the game receiving calls from Ritoma village and his Tibetan team, everyone back home eager to know what the experience was like.)
