Labrang is the spiritual heart of our Kanlho region, and it’s Monastery is the largest and most vibrant of monasteries left on the Tibetan Plateau. Here, travelers are transported back in time to witness an ancient culture and tradition rarely experienced in modern times.
KANGSTA VALLEY HIKE & CAVE
Kangtsa is a beautiful, small monastery situated deep in a nearby valley and is among the oldest Gelukpa monasteries in Amdo, founded by one of the 4th Panchen Lama’s disciples. Just beyond the monastery lies a secluded hike up to a holy meditation cave, one of the many hidden, unassuming places across the Plateau that have been home to meditators for centuries.
Transportation to Xiahe Airport
All volunteers will be housed in a local Guesthouse ran by a Tibetan family. Your participation supports this family’s enterprise. The Guesthouse is located directly within Ritoma village with accommodation for 2 persons, wifi, Western bathrooms, hot showers, heated stove, and access to all parts of the village. Ritoma Village is extremely safe! As a local elder says “Ritoma very safe, Land of Buddha”.
